Experience

Piano & Voice Lessons (January 2011 –Present)
I currently provide individual music lessons in voice and piano.  I have been teaching for 5 years and have had over 25 students ranging in level from beginning to advanced and between the ages of 4 and 17. I use a unique teaching method that tailors lessons to each individual student, teaches them to set goals and guides them to find intrinsic motivation.  Additionally, I have experience working with students who are on the autism spectrum.

Musical Theater & Acting Classes (January 2016-Present)
In January of 2016 I began teaching community acting and musical theater classes for youth ages 5-13.  I have taught over 30 students in these group classes, providing instruction in basic theatrical concepts such as character, voice, movement, expression through games, skits and monologues.  In musical theater we focused on stage presence, developing character and musicality through individual and group musical number work.  I currently teach the musical theater class at Dance Magic Studio, which are very similar but with an added emphasis on dance technique.

Math Tutoring (January 2015-Present)
I had the opportunity to provide weekly math tutoring for two students, grades 2 and 4, over the course of 6 months.  With the second grader, I used manipulatives and counting to reinforce a foundation of binary number system, and built upon this understanding with hands on addition and subtraction practice.  I set up a “store” to purchase rewards from while learning currency, and practiced fraction concepts by cutting things into portions.  With the fourth grader, we reviewed and reinforced multiplication through variations on a simple card game, and practiced division with hands on separation of manipulatives.  We worked on long division over a period of time by building upon previous understanding gradually and thoroughly.  I am currently working with a different fourth grader to gain a greater comprehension of word problems and mathematical applications.
